My Positive Breastfeeding

Joanne Sieber
Breastfeeding Support Specialist
I have been supporting parents with breastfeeding since October 2010, I have two daughters and I struggled to breast feed both.
I found that support was very limited in the hospital and within the community therefore feeling unsure and vulnerable I didn’t continue with breastfeeding.
Wanting to gain experience I became a Homestart Volunteer, and during my time in this role I trained in Breastfeeding Peer Support. It was from this training I realised my passion and how I could make a difference.
I have supported new mothers at my local hospital on the Post Natal ward, I've helped mothers to bond with their babies, to observe and provide assistance in latch/attachment and feeding issues.
I currently work at a local Children’s Centre where I provide weekly sessions covering all aspects of breastfeeding. I give advice to pregnant mothers to ensure they are prepared and know what to expect in the first few days after birth.
My role is to give you a greater understanding and to improve your knowledge about the importance and benefits of breastfeeding, to help you nurture, continue and establish good breastfeeding practice between you and your baby.
I shall provide you with continuing breastfeeding support before and after the birth in the comfort of your home in a one to one basis.
